01

Sleep Suite: three cello lullabies

Three original compositions recorded live in the studio, each around eight minutes long. Written specifically for children aged six months to five years, though several adult clients have told Miriam they use them too. Recorded on her 1987 German workshop cello with no reverb added, so the sound is close and warm rather than concert-hall distant.

Grounding: a listening practice for adults

A 22-minute guided listening session combining cello improvisation with spoken prompts designed to support nervous system regulation. Developed from techniques Miriam uses in one-to-one sessions with adults experiencing anxiety. Not a meditation app track. Recorded in one take, intentionally.

Morning Songs: a parent and child audio programme

Six short songs with simple actions, designed for the first 20 minutes of the day with a child aged one to three. Each song targets a different developmental area: turn-taking, naming, movement, breath. Comes with a one-page guide explaining the intention behind each song so parents understand what they are doing and why.

What makes sessions here different

01

Qualified, not just musical

Miriam holds a full music therapy certification from the British Association for Music Therapy. Sessions are therapeutic in intent and structure, not just relaxing background music.

02

No musical experience needed

Most clients have never played an instrument. You don't need to. The work happens through listening, improvising, and responding, not performing.

03

Small caseload, real attention

Lullaby 7 keeps a deliberately small number of active clients so that every session gets proper preparation and follow-up, not a clipboard and a timer.

What music therapy actually is (and is not)

Most people who contact Lullaby 7 for the first time say some version of the same thing: I am not sure if this is what I need, or even what it is exactly. That is a completely reasonable place to start. Music therapy has a branding problem. The name sounds either too soft or too clinical depending on who you ask, and neither impression is quite right.

Music therapy for children with autism: what parents should know

Parents of autistic children are often given a long list of interventions to consider, and it can be exhausting to work out which ones are worth pursuing. Music therapy comes up on that list fairly often, sometimes recommended by a speech therapist or a teacher, sometimes found through a late-night internet search. This article tries to give you a clear-eyed picture of what it involves and what it can realistically offer.

Can music therapy help with anxiety in adults?

Anxiety is one of the most common reasons adults contact Lullaby 7. It often comes after someone has tried talking therapy and found it helpful but not quite enough, or found it difficult to access, or simply wants to try something different. Music therapy is not a replacement for other forms of support, but for some people it reaches something that words alone do not.

Hands at the helm

"Miriam Calloway trained as a classical cellist at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before completing her music therapy certification through the British Association for Music Therapy in 2017. She spent three years working with a palliative care team at a hospice in Edinburgh, where she first understood how a single repeated melody could do what words simply could not. That work changed everything. She started Lullaby 7 in 2018, initially from a spare room with a cello, a small keyboard, and a lot of borrowed chairs. Outside the studio, she grows vegetables badly, reads slowly, and is convinced that the right song at the right moment is one of the most useful things a person can offer another."
